Turn Off Social Media (Unless you Turn On Direct Messaging)
Nick Black — GoodUnited
Social Media
Connection
Your website only works because of email. If you removed email capture from your website, traffic would be nearly worthless. Visitors would come and go. No names. No follow-up. No long-term value. Email is what unlocks website traffic. The same principle now applies to social media. If you’re not using direct messaging, your social audience is a black box. Followers stay anonymous. Engagement doesn’t convert. And every donation ask that sends supporters off-platform introduces friction that kills momentum.

The Great Connection Using AI to Free Up Time for Real Donor Relationships
Tim Lockie — The Human Stack
AIDonor Relations

We have never been more connected and donors have never felt more disconnected. Nonprofit teams are buried under inboxes dashboards campaigns and reporting. Technology promised relief. Instead it quietly consumed the time meant for human relationships the very work that actually drives giving. This session reframes AI’s role in fundraising. Not as a replacement for human connection but as a way to protect it.

Evaluating two donor personas, first-time recurring donors and single-gift donors who upgraded to recurring one month later, this 90-day study reveals how leading organizations acquire, cultivate, and convert long-term supporters.

How to Make Social Media Work for Your Nonprofit in 2026
Julia Campbell — JC Social Marketing
Social Media
Unity
Social media was designed to connect us, but in today’s crowded digital landscape, fueled by automation and AI-generated content, many nonprofits feel like they’re shouting into the void. The answer isn’t more content - it’s more connection. This session invites nonprofit communicators to rethink their approach to social media: not as a megaphone for announcements and press releases, but as a dynamic space for connection, conversation, and storytelling.

The Great AI Debate: AI Can Be Used To Build Meaningful Donor Relationships
Benjamin Childers, Dmitry Koltunov & Amina Mohamed — Arbor / Cameras for Girls
AIDonor Relations
Connection
As AI becomes embedded in fundraising technology, nonprofits are wrestling with a core question: can automation and intelligence deepen donor relationships—or do they risk eroding trust and authenticity? This session uses an Oxford-style debate to explore the motion: “AI can be used to build meaningful donor relationships.” Two teams will argue opposing sides, drawing on real-world fundraising experience, supporter engagement strategies, and emerging AI practices.

9 (Unexpected) Green Flags You're Ready for Federal Grants
Fielding Jezreel — Jezreel Consulting
Grants
Unity
Federal funding is the largest single source of funding for nonprofits. But too many organizations, especially those with budgets under $5M, never apply. Why? Because somewhere along the way, we were told we weren’t “ready.” This training flips that narrative on its head. We’re not here to talk about what you lack. We’re here to identify what you already have. Federal grants aren’t just for the big, shiny, or well-staffed organizations.

Smart Phones for Smart Fundraising -- Off Road Donor Engagement
Bart Lillie — Synergy
AIDonor Relations
Unity
No keys. No map. Still engaging donors. Most fundraising sessions talk about staying "in your lane" with best practices, platforms, predictable journeys. This one is about going off-road. In today’s digital landscape, donors aren’t waiting at a desk or following a predictable path. They’re moving, reacting, and deciding in real time, heavily influenced by the smartphone in their pocket. This session challenges fundraisers to stop treating mobile as “just another channel” and start using it as a moment-driven engagement engine.
