MMORE

About

MMORE (Multiple Myeloma Opportunities for Research & Education) exists to support multiple myeloma research to discover new life-prolonging treatments, improve the quality of life for myeloma patients, and ultimately to find a cure for all multiple myeloma patients.

MMORE has raised more than $2.4 million dollars for research since 2008. In 2015 MMORE launched their #endmyeloma campaign via CauseVox in order to expand their reach to new supporters. By utilizing CauseVox’s crowdfunding tips and tools, the MMORE #endmyeloma campaign successfully raised over $80,000.

Challenges / Problem

In March, Sarah Kauffman-Fink, a survivor of Multiple Myeloma, set an ambitious fundraising goal to move a research study to the clinic so myeloma patients could have access to new treatment as soon as possible. Having primarily relied on events to raise funds, she knew she had to branch out her methods in order to attract a new audience.

Before utilizing CauseVox for crowdfunding campaigns, MMORE found that it was difficult to expand their reach to new pools of supporters who may or may not have any knowledge of multiple myeloma. MMORE did not have many tools to be able to concisely communicate the need for research funding in compelling ways.

How CauseVox Helped

Sarah Kauffman-Fink chose to use CauseVox as the MMORE crowdfunding platform because of the vast resources available to equip and support the organization’s fundraising goals.

CauseVox’s blog helped MMORE understand what is needed to tell an impactful story in a concise and powerful way.

Both the frontend and backend interface in CauseVox were easy for the MMORE team to use and understand, and the additional education materials provided by CauseVox helped to enhance their fundraising know-how.

The use of CauseVox’s peer-to-peer fundraising capabilities allowed individuals that were passionate supporters of the cause to create their own personal fundraising pages, share their stories, and distribute the campaign to their family and friends. This allowed MMORE to engage new donors organically and multiplied their former reach to include new networks, as well as build an online audience.

Their Results

MMORE utilized CauseVox for the first time in March 2015 for their #endmyeloma campaign. 14 participants raised over $80,000 throughout the duration of the campaign to go towards medical research for a cure for multiple myeloma.
