Neverthirst’s WOD For Water

About

In April of 2008, Mark Whitehead traveled to South Sudan and noticed that something that he took for granted was missing in this village: access to clean water. In that moment, Neverthirst was birthed. Since inception, Neverthirst facilitated 2,000 water projects, and provided clean water to roughly 300,000 people in the Central African Republic, India, South Sudan, and Cambodia.

WOD for Water is a crossfit challenge Neverthirst puts on through their partnership with Iron Tribe Fitness, in which participants raise funds for their participation.

The Challenge

Neverthirst has been partnering with Iron Tribe Fitness to organize WOD for Water events across the country. Through the Iron Tribe Fitness network, Neverthirst had access to hundreds of donors. Neverthirst was gaining donors and fundraisers, but Mark never had a way to stay in touch with them. Each year, the fundraising effort had to start from scratch.

How CauseVox Helped

Mark and his small team found the CauseVox platform extremely user-friendly, allowing them to set up a fundraising site without needing any coding experience required.

For the first time ever, Neverthirst had the means to capture donor information through the CauseVox platform. With the new capability, Neverthirst is staying in touch with its donors and turning them from one-time donors into long-term advocates.

In addition, they were able to have one campaign site that was branded for their event, and acted as a hub for the campaign. Participants could sign up for their own personal fundraising page, complete with a personal story and fundraising goal, expanding the reach of Neverthirst’s campaign like never before.

Result

In their first attempt, Neverthirst’s WOD for Water event was able to exceed their goal of $200,000. Neverthirst raised $217,889 to build 87 wells in India.

Neverthirst has gone on to organize 37 WOD for Water events across the United States, all powered by CauseVox.
