How the SXSW community raised over $120,000 for the Japan tsunami
The attendees at South by Southwest (SXSW), a music/film/interactive conference, launched SXSWCares to rally the SXSW community to support Japan disaster relief. Within 10 days, along with collaborators such as the Hanson Brothers, the campaign raised over $120,000. CauseVox enabled the campaign to quickly take donations, share content, and empower supporters to fundraise through their friends, family, and customers.
"Without CauseVox, there's no way that we could have rallied SXSW attendees, their friends, and media to create such a successful campaign for the American Red Cross." - Leight Durst, SXSWCares

Quick Start

Because of the overwhelming speed of the disaster, SXSWCares needed to launch as quick as possible. CauseVox enabled organizers to develop a full-featured fundraising site, including a custom web address, within 30 minutes of learning of the Japan tsunami.

Personal Fundraising

In order to expand the reach and impact of the campaign, organizers enabled personal fundraising within their CauseVox fundraising site so that the community could raise awareness and funds through their friends, family, and business customers.

Social Media Integration

The SXSW community is tech saavy and are deeply plugged into social media as a primary means of communication and information dissemination. Campaign organizers were able to leverage built-in social media tools to amplify their message. Their CauseVox fundraising site received over 6600 Facebook “Likes” in one week.
